The Subaru Forester is a compact, four-door SUV with room for five passengers. It also has ample room for cargo. In many ways, the Forester was designed to replace the station wagons of the past. Here at Brewster Subaru near Westchester, we are excited to announce that the new 2022 Subaru Forester has won the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
The IIHS is a non-profit, independently-run group committed to reducing death, injuries, and losses due to traffic accidents. The IIHS is considered an educational group that uses science, testing, and statistics to provide information on vehicle safety. Each year they do numerous crash tests on a wide range of motor vehicles. New-car buyers around GEO can feel secure knowing that their purchase was deemed safe by the IIHS.
Subaru fans near Brewster, NY, will be excited to know that the Subaru Forester is a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS for 2022. It's the highest award that a vehicle can receive. They perform tests on the small-overlap front for the driver's side, a small-overlap front for the passenger's side, moderate-overlap front, and side crashes. Further evaluation is done for the headlights, roof strength, and head restraints. A vehicle must also rate highly in vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests for the top award.
What Took So Long?
Subaru fans near Cortland Manor can feel confident that the Forester has passed all of these tests with a GOOD or higher rating. It also received bonus points for its front-collision avoidance technology. Some of our Yorktown Heights customers may be wondering what took so long for the IIHS to announce the Subaru Forester as a winner. Though the IIHS conducted most of its tests in February of 2022, the updated Forester wasn't available to the organization at the time of testing.
